Manpur Block (Gaya District) Site Visit Report (2002)

Poorva Express sped into Bihar as the first rays of the sun started to chase the night away. The sprawling fields interspersed with hamlets came into view. Piles of grainstock, randomly thrown about in squarish fields like pieces in a game of checkers indicated that harvesting season was complete. It was hard to believe that this idyllic scenery hid the most underdeveloped area in the world.

Mozda Collective NGO's Report on Gujrat

Mozda's NGO reportDediapada, a tribal taluka in Narmada district has witnessed severe depletion and degradation in its natural resources in recent times. Deforestation, drying up of natural streams, depletion of common property resources etc. have been the major features. Mozda Collective, an NGO, is working in the watershed development programme in nine villages of the taluka with 700 farmers actively participating.

This is more prominent at busy intersections – say ITO, ISBT – and industrial areas – like Wazirpur, Motinagar. We always knew that Delhi air is polluted. How much was the question? We have some information about that now.

On Saturday, June 3, 2006, “Smoke Screen” – a report on ambient air quality in India by “Community Environment Monitoring (CEM)” – was released at Indian Social Institute in Delhi. The report has many firsts to its credit and raises some pertinent questions.
