Nov 2: AID approved Rs 2 lakhs (about $4200) for support to Nisarga Trust working with APVVU to help support 6 social workers in 6 mandals of Kurnool district to ensure Govts rehab packages reaches the affected families. Oct 8: AID has approved $10,000 to be sent immediately to Karnataka and about $14,000 to be sent to Andhra Pradesh for the flood relief work. Volunteers in India like Srihari, Kiran etc have together advanced about Rs 3 Lakh so far to get the efforts started. The projected need is at least $60,000 for the work AID and its partners are focusing on. Please donate generously to the All India Relief Fund. Oct 7: View Poster Latest Andhra -- Kiran has left for Nagula Dinne village in Kurnool District at 5am today. This village was by many accounts the worst affected in the area. AID, BHUMI and BOSF volunteers are coordinating together for this relief effort. They are in touch with the district administration and they suggested this village. They are also in touch with a paramedic and village sarpanch who can help as needed. They have taken one lakh rupees worth of medicines, blankets, sarees and food along with them. Latest Karnataka -- Floods data | At a glance | What's needed Oct 6: Update from Kirankumar Vissa, Hyderabad There are quite a few groups and individuals from Hyd who are organizing relief material, and some of them making field visits in Mahbubnagar and Kurnool districts with relief supplies. Some of them have reached villages where no other agencies have reached, and are organizing distribution. As Srihari has shared, Akshara has set up two relief camps in M'nagar dist.
Water purification material and medicines are also a big need.
(3) Get tips from AID-Chennai and Aila partners about some specific needs in flood-affected areas based on previous relief experience. For example, there is a discussion about least expensive ways of doing water purification since there is a big danger of water-borne diseases.
