Our initial plan was to build 46 shelters, but given the success of the project we were able to raise that number to 55 shelters - in the village of Saidpora and neighboring Balakot Patti near Uri. 35 of the shelters have been completed so far. We are working closely with the local population who have been eagerly helping with the construction of the shelters. The villagers are happy with the results. There were some under-construction shelters that were not built to our specifications, but we remedied that.

We are also considering the possibility of building some ecologically friendly lavatories for the villages that are appropriate for cold climates. We have looked at several designs but have not yet made the decision to start work on these.

Once these shelters are finished, we will take stock of the situation again and see how else we can contribute towards the long-term rehabilitation of the villages. The decision will be made in consultation with the villagers.
