It has been almost a year since I started contributing full time at AID. I was hoping the year would be one of learning and useful contribution. It turned out to be a bit of both.

Tsunami Work

  •  Relief work coordination interms of arranging for and sending relief material, handling inventory
  • Helped in organising medical camps in Kelambakkam and Koovathur
  • Co-ordinated volunteers - students, doctors
  • Assisted donor visits to affected areas
  • Fund raising for relief and long term programmes
 

Health team - A LOT of learning!

  • Content contribution for material production - Adolescent flip chart, TB,  menopause, Urinary tract infection, Vaginal infections,  Abortion questionnaire, cancers, Pregnancy care, Anemia
  • Participated in state team visits to Vembakkam, K+K, SWC, SENSE
  • Adolescent class training to Sulagiri full timers
  • Participated in a new idea “health mela”

Sulagiri

  •  Participated in volunteer mobilization initiatives - street plays, village level activities, adolescent classes etc
  • Training of health full timers
  • Contributed in block development activities - starting new libraries, identifying full timers, organising training camps for volunteers, trainings for full timers
  • Programme execution - helping various teams, visiting classes/villages
  • Co-ordinate with state programme teams for planning and execution of targets
  • Admin/co-ordination of work and reporting

Bangalore chapter

  •  Organised Primary education camp for volunteers in Bangalore
  • Organised Science workshop for tuition centre volunteers in Bangalore
  • Helped in translation of adolescent flip chart into kannada
  • Adolescent class training to Bangalore volunteers
  • Organised a science demo classes for Satyam foundation
  • Helped in fund raising
  • Co-ordinated Bangalore volunteers for reading level survey in Sulagiri

Trainings, workshops

  •  State training camps - Science, Health, Primary
  • Vembakkam health volunteers training camp
  • Primary education - Reading levels training
  • UNICEF - Nav nirmithi maths training

Other activities

  •  Participated in a lot of meetings! - Planning, vision, admin, co-ords, finance, track team etc
  • Helped in AID-Chennai volunteers conference
  • Participated in Food Security public hearing
  • Visited Thulir school and returned very inspired
