Aniruddha Vaidya was nominated to the Board of Directors (BoD) of AID in 2005. Prior to joining the BoD, he was elected to the Executive Board as a "Your Voice Counts" coordinator from 2003 to 2005.
Aniruddha joined AID as a volunteer in 1997 when the State College chapter was being formed and served as the chapter's Secretary and later as its President. Since 1999 he has been with the Bay Area chapter and volunteered for various chapter activities including projects, fund-raising, organizing talks and documentary screenings as well as in media relations. Aniruddha and and his wife Neerja visited the adivasi villages of the Kondh's in remote forests of Vishakhapatanam district in January 2003 where AID has supported schools and village cooperatives through Nisarga Trust. He has also been involved in solidarity campaigns with the Narmada struggle.
Aniruddha has B.Tech and MSc(Engg) degrees from Banaras Hindu University and the Indian Institute of Science and a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Penn State University.
