Srinivas Nagabhushan Rao Chadaram, better known as Naga to friends in AID. Naga joined AID Duke chapter when he joined Duke University’s Medical Center in 2002 for his research associate position at laboratory of Nerve Regeneration. Since then AID has been an integral part of his life. His contribution at the chapter level has been primarily towards fundraising, treasury and raising awareness within local community through various events ranging from sports tournaments, concerts and organizing talks by various speakers.
Naga has always been inspired by the words of Mahatma Gandhi – "Be the change you want to see in the world". Through AID he got the chance to meet Chennaiah, Ravi Kuchimanchi, Arvind Kejriwal, Hiremathji, Aravinda and Kalpana which helped him enrich his knowledge on developmental issues and thus bolstered his dedication towards AID.
He has been involved with health and HIV awareness projects and the Right to information campaigns. At Duke chapter they have supported women’s vocational training and setting up of small sustainable manufacturing units in Dindugal district, Tamil Nadu with MERDS. Naga has a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medical Science and Animal Husbandry from ANGRAU, Hyderabad India and has a PhD from University of Idaho, Moscow in Zoology (Neurobiology). He currently resides in Durham, North Carolina with his wife Rupa whom he met through one of AID’s fundraising activities.
Naga currently is a Fundraising and Community Relations Coordinator. His primary role revolves around strengthening AID’s donors and community relations. He will be coordinating fundraising campaigns like One for India, AID annual calendar and national cricket tournament. He is keen to establish an AID wide central donor database to streamline chapters outreach efforts with respect to volunteers turnover and improved donations.
