Introducing Haybox in Orissa   Manufacturing and selling hay boxes can be a good livelihood activity for women in the villages and also supports bamboo weavers if the product can be marketed well.

URGENT APPEAL FOR MILLIONS AFFECTED BY CYCLONE AILA


Please contribute generously through AID's Cyclone Aila Relief Fund.


As of Friday, 29th May 2009, more than 100 people are reported dead and ome million displaced from their homes by Cyclone Aila in southern West Bengal.

In the Sundarban area, thousands of homes have been broken and people have taken shelter in nearby schools and Panchayat offices. There is an acute shortage of food, drinking water and clothes. As the water is receding in some villages gastroentrities is beginning to rear its ugly head.


Association for India's Development (AID) is working with  Baikanthapur Tarun Sangha (BTS)and Mukti in the blocks of Kultali, Patharpratima, Gosaba, Kakdwip and Mathurapur II in the district of South 24 Parganas, to provide immediate relief and long term rehabilitation.

The need is immediate and huge. Rupees 10 Lakhs (approx $21000) has already been sent to provide food, water and temporary shelter to the affected.
