The conference brought together more than 150 people from across the US and some from India, all of them committed to working for true development in rural and urban India. AID volunteers, most of them Non-Resident Indians from different walks of life, engaged themselves in the two facets of the conference: to further build their understanding of development issues, and to plan strategies and action items for increasing their involvement in grassroots development efforts in India.
