Kalpana Karunakaran
 
 studied History at Jawaharlal Nehru University.  She coordinates the Center for
 Ecology and Rural Development (CERD) 50-block women's development programme in TN, and is the
 district coordiantor for Mahalir Association for Literacy, Awareness, & Rights.
