About UsWe are seeking to link
families in cities to the Narmada
valley
adivasi families through this Jansahyog site. The relief
and solidarity generated through this program will help the adivasi
people (first inhabitants or indigenous people) cope with
displacement by the Sardar Sarovar dam and continue their
struggle to secure proper rehabilitation. The Bombay Sarvodaya
Friendship Centre (BSFC),
a Gandhian organization inspired by Vinoba, and the Narmada
Navnirman Abhiyan (NNA)
are two non-profit organizations in India implementing the Jansahyog
relief program in the Narmada valley. They disburse food
grains to needy families most affected by submergence, provide
sheets for temporary shelters, and medical care and other help as
needed. Association for India's
Development
(AID) founded in 1991 is a grass-roots organization with 500
volunteers in about 40+ cities of the USA and supports about a
100 projects every year in most states of India in the areas of
alternate energy, education, health, sustainable agriculture,
empowerment, women's issues, malnutrition, relief, communal
harmony, human rights and integrated rural
development. AID is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and
it supports the Jansahyog Relief Project of BSFC. NOTE:
AID supports the BSFC financially
for its Jansahyog Relief efforts in Narmada valley, watershed
programs in Mozda and surrounding villages, and alternate energy
work such as the Bilgaon Micro-hydro
project.
However no financial support from AID goes to NNA or NBA.
Only Indian citizens can contribute to NBA and NNA and we
encourage them to contact these organizations directly.
